Re: Smallholding

Hi Smallholding
It would probably be useful if you could say when your family started the smallholding. There are lots of items that touch on (or are entirely about) smallholdings in our online library, LIBRAL, so that would be a good place to start.

Re: Derek Stuckey Feed Rationing Calculator

PS In fact, it is now the most recently added item, as I had to re-upload it because it hadn't been watermarked.

Re: Derek Stuckey Feed Rationing Calculator

Hi Rachael
I've no idea whether this will help, but we have a publication on rationing in LIBRAL. It is called 'Departmental Committee on rationing of dairy cows: report'. You can find it in the All titles list. To sign up for LIBRAL, https://www.bahs.org.uk/LIBRAL.html

I contacted the original poster and unfortunately it seems that the seed measures have recently been donated to E W Kings collection. Sorry!

Re: A building referred to as a Buck House

Hi Brendan
I am glad you have an answer to your question at last, and that you posted it on our forum.
Now we all know what a buck house was used for - it would be great if you could cite the source of this information.
Best wishes

Hi Rosegirl It looks as if you can read that article online for free. If you search for 'Margaret Maddison, The Callenders, Eighteenth-Century Northern Nurserymen and Seedsmen, Garden History, Vol. 33, No. 2' and then go to the jstor link. You will have to register. Let me know how you get on. WebWe...

Re: Durham Agricultural Society

Thanks for your very full (and referenced) answer, Nutmeg. I'm sorry if your original answer disappeared - I don't know how that happened because I can't get rid of some posts that ought to be removed :-)
